I Quit My Job to Become a Professional Blogger, and These Are the Lessons I Learned
Why Being a Blogger Is an Amazing Career Choice
Not too long ago, being an entrepreneur was an uncommon
career choice. There were only small pockets of society that actually
understood what it meant to be an entrepreneur. But over time, as technology
made it easier for anyone in any location to start their own business,
entrepreneurship became more common. With advancements in online marketing
strategies and social media marketing tactics, entrepreneurship has really
started to open up for people of all backgrounds. Today, entrepreneurs are everywhere;
there are blogs about every niche you can think of -- not even mentioning how
there is still traditional content out there (like newspapers or magazines).
This means that blogging is accessible to everyone.
Challenges as a Full-Time Blogger
Although my income is higher than it's ever been before,
there are still many challenges as a full-time blogger. You have to be willing
to work hard every day, learn something new every day, deal with constant
criticism (which isn't always easy), and develop content that you love. It can
be hard at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!
A Day in The Life of a Professional Blogger
When most people think of blogging, they picture someone
sitting in their pajamas, writing up posts from their bed. While that may be
true for some bloggers, other types of bloggers out there spend their time,
energy, and money on growing blogs as businesses. From filming videos to
starting giveaways or affiliate partnerships, professional bloggers are
full-time entrepreneurs who make money through advertising or by selling
products or services through their websites. The best part about blogging as a
full-time job is that you get to choose how much or how little you work—and
many still manage to have a family and social life outside of work because
they're smart with their time management.
The Future of Being A Full-Time Blogger
What It Is, And What It Isn't: The truth is that becoming a
full-time blogger has meant lots of late nights and hard work. Whether or not
blogging will ever be able to replace your 9-to-5 job is up for debate, but
becoming a full-time blogger isn't something you can do overnight. There are
things you need to think about (and realistically prepare for) before you make
that leap. Just because you think writing about products online sounds cool
doesn't mean it will be—in fact, it might be harder than most people realize.
Even if it isn't for everyone, there are still some valuable lessons new
bloggers can learn from veteran writers who have been in their shoes before.
